Adventure is Out There

Dear Mom,

I found a picture from Sunday, June 7, 2015 and it’s of a road trip we went on. It feels like forever ago but it’s a day I’ll always remember. We were visiting family or something (this is the only part that’s a little fuzzy) and when we got in the car to go home you asked if I wanted to go to Iowa. For as long as I can recall, I’ve had a goal to visit all 50 states and you knew how determined I am to make it happen.

I had never been to Iowa so I jumped on the opportunity to visit somewhere new. We were already in western Illinois so we decided to drive an extra hour to make it happen. You, Tony, and I made the most of the trip! We visited the Ronald Reagan Boyhood Home and took pictures outside. We found a cool tunnel bridge that I got out to vlog (back when I thought I’d be a famous YouTuber some day).

Then we got to the point in this picture where we finally crossed over the border from Illinois to Iowa. Another state checkmarked from my list. We found a cool beach with a lighthouse and so Tony and I got out to take pictures. Unfortunately, this was the point when walking started getting really hard for you so you stayed in the car. Looking back I wish I would have tried to help you so you could have experienced it with us, but I was a native 16 year old who thought you’d be around forever.

I love finding photos like this because it reminds me of all the fun adventures we’ve had together. If there’s anything I can promise you, it’s that I will never lose my love for adventure and the outdoors. In fact, your passing has made me even more determined to travel and I’ve already started planning summer camping trips. I’m hoping to go somewhere new to knock another state off the list! I even found this really cool United States map and frame where you can put pictures of yourself in the state. I want to buy it really badly but I’m trying to find ways to justify spending $120 on a map. I will keep you updated!

Adventure is out there,

This is the photo of us crossing the bridge into Iowa. I'll always love this memory.

Here is the link to the super fun map frame: https://www.thunderbunnylabs.com/shop/product/50-states-photo-map

Tell me this wouldn't be such a fun tradition:
The white and grey would match my room so well too!
